Howdy.

I just purchased a 1995 AlpineWeiss 318i 5-speed (I've owned a few E30s over the years) and I have to say that aside from a slightly less robust appearing interior (let's face it, the E30 interior can withstand a tank shell), I love the car! The car easily outhandles my E30 325iS thanks to the Z-axle and is roomier and quieter to boot (although there is a nice snarl from the exhaust when I wind up the engine). I specifically purchased a 318 as I felt the 325 / 328 was far too nose heavy -- the 318 felt much more like my E30 in terms of overall responsiveness.

So what's the first thing I should upgrade on this car, keeping in mind that I purchased this car (and am selling the 325iS as a result) because I needed something more accomodating to a baby seat. The suspension / brakes appear to be well engineered (should be since they're the same as the 323/325/328) and the wheels are nice 7x15 alloys. Should I get a Conforti chip? Intake? Long term I'm highly interested in the Downing Atlanta supercharger, but $3.5k is a little steep at present.

Anyway, glad to be aboard. Looking forward to all sorts of useful E36 information! Attached is a picture (the house, the Suburban, the canoe and the dog are not mine).
