I have hundreds of email addresses in my phonebook too. I have not set up any groups yet, but I would not think that email groups would cause problems. I think that the Pearl probably just ignores the email fields altogether when it does a sync.

The next check I would do is export your Pearl contact list to a comma separated file and do another round of data cleanup verification. I do have hyphen and parenthesis characters in the phone numbers, so those are OK. If you imported data into the Pearl, I would not be surprised if one of the phone fields contains alpha data, like an email address.
