many have paid less and the markets I am in tend to be a little pricier, but I have paid $3-4K on maintenance (post-warranty) & repairs on each of the two E38s I've had.

For comparison, I had a 528i I spent $1200 or so per year on and a Toyota Landcruiser I spent about $400 a year on.
