Subject: e30 water pump - 'good' replacement part search

Hello,

I am looking for a source of brand new BMW factory water pumps. does anyone know where to obtain a newly manufactured H2O pump with good bearings? Has anyone ever heard of replacing the seals in an old pump?

To explain:

I have installed a couple of Graf pumps, and have never held a Laso in my hands. One thing that i've never been satisfied with is the play in the bearings of supposedly new pumps. It's a bunch.

I went to the local BMW dealer parts counter and messed with one of theirs, and it still had play in the bearings. This one was shown as a remanufatured part, by the way.

The reason for all of this is that the original pump for the car lasted for 180,000 miles before the seals failed and it had to be replaced, but the bearings remained pristine with no play in them whatsoever. It seems shamefull to put on a new part which isn't as good as the one i took off the car after a long service life.

thanks, Ceelo
