Subject: First of all- I am on your side, Chris..

We put up with all the BS with companies, local governments, relatives who would rather give a shit than to be supportive...
The least we would want is for some cop to 'stand back' and not intervene. I am not saying don't let this action by the police go unnoticed. What I am saying is keep a legal documentation on the event so you can back it up if questioned by anybody.
I work aboard ships in the merchant marines and with the military. I have to substantiate EVERYTHING I do. I also have to say, "yes, sir..give me more" to my superiors and take responsibility where/when needed. But I will not piss on those who don't do their job, rather...I make reports to higher- up sources that will put a ding on the person's record.
Chris,What I am saying to you is from all the actions that caused you great anxiety, try and resolve what you can. You almost died and that is scary!
Don't push any cop to the limit- as they can do anything they want to diffuse the situation!
