Here is detail on the frozen door lock repair..BMW finially told dealer that they would pay half for the repair of both front doors but only half. If the first owner had discovered it before the warranty had run out then they would have repaired both for free. I told dealer that I then would only fix the driver's door as that was the oly door that had continually frozen up. Dealer said that BMW would pay half only if I paid the other half and fixed both doors..take it or leave it. Dealer went on to say ()words to the effect that) BMW now recognized that there was at least the potential for some liability should the unrepaired door open up some snowey day and eject a passenger later on and for that reason they insisted on both front doors being repaired. I said if BMW sees a responsibility for their poor early design and a possibility for liability or damage then they should take responsibility for this and make the repair free to any subsequent owner of the car as soon as it was brought to their attention as they never put out a recall notice on it and only silently repaired it under warranty when the customer noticed it. A car bought in South Carolina and/or parked each night in a garage might never exhibit the defect. A subsequent owner in North Dacota surely would! BMW didn't budge (maybe Dealer never contested it) but the dealer did pay the other half. Result equals one satisfied customer who will probably buy a fourth used BMW from them eventually. (Don't anticipate ever being rich enuf to get one new!)
