Subject: Run-in with F355 Spyder

Driving my lightly-modded '98 540i 6-speed down a 4-lane undivided highway with light traffic. About 50 yards ahead, I see a pair of taillights that are very unfamiliar in Upstate NY, and the unmistakable stance of a bright red F355. I cautiously increase speed to catch up to the beast. We are approaching a large bridge over the Mohawk River (Route 9 south for anyone in the area) where the speed limit switches to 55mph (from 40mph). Fortunately, traffic cleared (nobody ahead of us for hundreds of yards) just as he and I get to the beginning of the bridge. He sees me appraching and punches it. Oh man, the sound from that car is amazing. I quickly followed suit, and we did a nice little sprint from 55 to 120 or so over the bridge, with him slowly pulling away the whole time (not a huge difference, but not really close either). We slowed down again to 50 and did it again. Unfortunately, he jumped on the throttle both times before I did, so there were no 'fair starts' (not that it would have made a difference, but I would have like to seen how well I could keep up). Anyway, we eventually just start cruising next to each other, giving the required homoerotic thumbs up signs to each other. Cool guy, hopefully I'll run into him again...
