This is for a navigation system for BMW's with a regular DIN-sized radio opening in the dashboard. Sign up below if you're interested in participating. Final payment will be directly between individual buyers and the manufacturer, but we need to approach them as a group instead of individually.

I'm interested in it for a '92 750iL, but it will work in any BMW with a DIN radio opening, including the e36, e28, e34, the Z3/Z4 cars and even the e38 7-series (it was a factory option in Europe).

The Becker 4771 is the BMW-labeled radio navigation system, with matching display color for BMW interiors/instruments and support for I-BUS compatible CD changers and steering wheel controls. Several members of the e32 7-series forum have expressed an interest in pooling our buying power with Becker to buy these units at a discount. Individually, they're priced at $599 but if we can get at least 10 buyers they'll lower the price to $425.

I spoke with the company today and the cost, individually, is $599, including the GPS antenna and the latest 2.0 software/map CD's, which were released in November, 2004. They don't plan to do any more map updates, though. You'll also need a $50 vehicle-specific adapter cable to connect to your car's radio wiring harness.

If we can get 10 buyers, the cost drops to $425 each.

The 4771 includes an aux input so you can connect an ipod or satellite radio, and it also features line-level outputs if you're using an aftermarket amplifier.

Here's a link to more information about the units, with photos.
