I tried them on the old E30 with the bottle cap wheels and they were not really visible. People say they don't allow the brakes to cool properly, though I am not sure that is an issue unless you track the car or routinely drive that hard.

On better wheels where you can see the brakes, I'd guess they'd be a little ugly.
