When I did my garage lighting is key. I have 4 four foot florescent lights over each bay. I also have a U-Coat it floor. I had custom mats done also for when the car is wet the water will not run all over the floor. The mats have channels to hold the water.

I've got a TV, and its a must along with a phone and refrigerator and Bose radio/mp3. I went with a electric heater that does a nice job. Make sure if you have a compressor you run a separate circuit just for that. I also have a air conditioner in one of the windows. Remember, when you insulate like I did the heat from the engine in the summer is bad, it really heats up the whole garage.

Something I did not do yet is hook up a computer but is needed. Also make sure you have plenty of counter space, I can't get enough. I'm working on a project motorcycle and am ruining out of shelf space. Also the more things you can hang on the walls and keep off the floor is great.
